Station "OYK" - later "OYA" - Daneborg:

Erected by USCG Cutter Storis in summer 1944 near the trapping station Sandodden as an American station. Before the station was ready the small 5 man Army detachment under command of Capt. Strong was told to abandon the project. The site called "OYK" was taken over by the North East Greenland Sledge Patrol as their new regional headquarters. Part of the station was build by material left behind by the Germans on Lille Koldeway (Edelweiss II).

When the war ended the Station call sign "OYA" was changed because "OYK" was used in Thorshavn on the Faeroe Islands. At the same time the station was christened "Daneborg".
